The Dexter Athletics & Activities Department is initiating a leadership program called the Dexter Leadership Elite. lt includes students that participate in our high school athletics and activities programs.
We ask and want our students to be leaders, but we don't always train and provide them with direct information about how to be a leader. This group of students will be nominated by coaches and activity advisors as having potential to be a positive influence for other students and our hope is that these students influence our high school culture positively for future success. Students will be nominated throughout the year for a possible invite to the Leadership Elite. They will be held to the highest expectation including participation, attendance, behavior, and leadership application. Our vision is to have presenters, speakers, team building activities, dinners, competitions, book studies, and student initiatives that will train our students how to be a positive influence and kind-hearted individuals while having fun and building rapport amongst our department, community, school, and study body. All of this is possible through the direct efforts of Dexter coaches and activity advisors.
The first invites have been distributed to students and we love the "buzz" that has started. Our kick-off assembly is on October 20 @ 6:30 PM. NMAA will be at Dexter with a representative to begin that conversation with students about what they want and believe they need as future leaders. It is only for students, parents are always welcome as well as ideas about how we can make this initiative GREAT and beneficial for our school. We are in the beginning stages, but are tremendously excited about the "extra" that we can give to our extracurricular student participants.
Please support our students by congratulating those that received an invite this first go-round and help us grow by encouraging all students to be involved in athletics and activities and know they can be nominated for the Dexter Leadership Elite all year long.

Homecoming activities kick off Thursday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. with the Coronation Ceremony in Lewis Gym, followed by the Homecoming Parade at 2:00 p.m. through downtown Dexter.

This presentation is designed to help students understand their rights, responsibilities, and the protections provided under Title IX. It will cover age-appropriate information on discrimination, harassment, and how to seek help if needed.
We strongly encourage all middle and high school students to participate, as this information is important for creating a safe and respectful school environment.
If you do not wish for your child to participate, please send a written note to your child’s school or call the school office before the presentation.

Herff Jones will be at Dexter's Miller Auditorium on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 @ 11:00 AM to provide our juniors and seniors with a presentation regarding class rings, letterman jackets, and graduation items.

🌱Exciting news from Dexter Schools 🪴we're growing something new - literally! Mr. Pierce along with his students are building a greenhouse that will give students hands-on learning opportunities science, agriculture, and sustainability. This space will allow our students to explore plant life, learn about healthy foods, and see the results of their hard work come to life. 🪴🍎🌷The greenhouse will not only be a classroom, but also a place where curiosity, responsibility, and teamwork can bloom. We can't wait to see how this project benebits our students and community for years to come. 🌶️Stay tune for updates as our greenhouse takes shape.
Last year, we caught a picture of a Dexter grad on Noticias Telemundo! Mercedes Levario, Class of 2023, is attending UNM working on a double-major - Pre-Law and Psychology. Through UNM's CAMP program, she was given the opportunity to work with Senator Nava, learning about the legislative process. As a guest of Senator Nava, Mercedes was introduced on the House Floor. We're proud of you, Mercedes!
