Welcome Back from Spring Break
Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you are well-rested and ready to finish the year strong. Due to recent inclement weather delays, students have been given a small extension to submit their Quarter 3 work. You have Monday and Tuesday to turn in any outstanding assignments, and Quarter 3 report cards will be sent home on Friday, March 28. For our younger students in kindergarten, first, and second grades, the monthly Istation ISIP assessment will take place this week. It’s important that students get good sleep and rest to perform their best on these assessments. Additionally, students who met their AR goal for Quarter 3 will enjoy a celebratory trip to Lake Van this Friday. Our Fast Feet Friday morning schedule will continue as usual for the rest of the school year, taking advantage of the nice weather for morning walks. We have also provided incentives for students who demonstrate good behavior and academic performance every other Friday. It has been rewarding to celebrate our students’ achievements in character. For those who need it, we offer school improvement sessions every other Friday from 2 PM to 2:30 PM, where students work on better behavior techniques, complete missing assignments, or redo assignments for a better grade. The next session is on April 4. Thank you for your continued support, and have a great week ahead!

Good Afternoon Families
With careful consideration for the forecasted weather tomorrow, school will transition to remote learning. Teachers will send out information regarding the learning tasks for the day. In addition to the assignments from the teachers, here are a few more learning tasks:
Read for 20 minutes.
Tomorrow is scheduled to be a Dr. Seuss day, to wear animal print or dress like an animal. Students can draw a picture of their favorite animal and write a paragraph about it.
Create 15 of your own equations for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division to share with a partner when returning to school.
Make your own word search using spelling words you know for your friends to try.
Create your own sight word flashcards to practice and teach your siblings and/or friends.
Engage in some physical activities such as sit-ups, jumping jacks, yoga, or stretches. The opportunities are endless.
Staff will be available from 8 AM to 3 PM. Please stay safe.

Early Student Release Notification
Due to low visibility caused by windy conditions, we are releasing students today at 11:30 am. Students have already received breakfast and lunch. They will have assignments to complete at home for the remainder of the day. These include AR and a worksheet packet, and for those with computer and internet access, they can continue their work on platforms such as iReady, Zearn, and Starfall. Welcome to Dr. Seuss Week, where each day is filled with exciting activities celebrating the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss! From Monday through Thursday, students will engage in themed activities that bring the magic of his stories to life. Friday will be particularly special, featuring a visit from our esteemed guest, Ms. Sally Knight. Make sure to check the calendar for dress-up days to add a touch of fun and creativity to our celebrations. As we enter March, time will fly by quickly, especially with Daylight Savings Time beginning on March 9. Don't forget that next week we have Wacky Wednesday, so please submit permission forms no later than Tuesday, March 11. Students demonstrating good character, responsibility, and maintaining good academics (C grades or better) will receive a special incentive this Friday, March 7. Can you believe it’s already the last week of February? Time is truly flying by. We have an exciting week ahead focused on student learning and inquiry. We apologize for the cancellations of Fast Feet Friday; the weather has been quite unpredictable. Fingers crossed for more consistent Fast Feet Fridays as we welcome warmer temperatures. This week, we expect milder days. Additionally, there will be an evacuation drill for both students and staff; please note that there is no alarm as this is just a practice drill. Students have three weeks left to complete their academic work before the quarter ends on March 14. From March 3 to 7, we will celebrate Read Across America, with plenty of activities planned for our students, so keep an eye out for more information. Wishing you all a fantastic week and enjoy the warmer weather!

Once upon a time, in a cozy corner of Dexter Schools, there lived a wonderful woman named Sally Knight. Sally used to work for DCS and was also a beloved coach, inspiring children with her kindness and wisdom. But what Sally loved most was telling stories, especially to children.
One day, Sally decided to write a children's book called Bears, Bears Everywhere. The book was filled with delightful tales of bears embarking on adventurous journeys, making new friends, and discovering the wonders of the world. Each page was a magical invitation to explore the beauty of nature and the joy of friendship.
Inspired by the enchanting stories, Ms. Aragon generously donated a copy of Bears, Bears Everywhere to our Elementary library. To make this gift even more special, Ms. Sally personally signed the donated copy, leaving a heartwarming message for all the young readers to enjoy.
