NM Pre-K and Kindergarten Round-Up for School Year 2025-26
Join us on Friday, May 9, from 9 AM until 2 PM at the elementary school for the NM Pre-K and Kindergarten Round-Up.
NM Pre-K Students: Must be 4 years of age by September 1, 2025.
Kindergarten Students: Must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2025.
Note: NM Pre-K spots are limited to 15. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. All others will be placed on a waiting list.

Curriculum Adoption Announcement
It's time for the curriculum adoption process. This year focuses on science adoption. A number of teachers attended a presentation regarding the science curriculum, and we have narrowed down our options to a select few. We invite students, staff, parents, families, and the community to visit the elementary school to review the curriculum and cast your vote. The curriculum materials are displayed in the hallway next to the front office of the elementary school. Please come by between now and Friday, April 11, 2025, to share your feedback. We aim to make a decision in late April and present it to the school board at the monthly meeting in May. Thank you for your support.

Please be advised that Dexter schools will be releasing students at 11:15 AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 due to predicted high winds that afternoon. Our number one priority is the safety of our students and staff. Everyone stay safe!
Due to expected wind gusts of up to 45 mph, students will be released at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Students will be sent home with sack lunches to ensure they have a meal for the afternoon. For their assignment on Tuesday afternoon, students are tasked with nominating a staff member at the elementary school for the "Teacher of Character" award. This nomination can be for any staff member who has demonstrated good character and made a positive impact. Eligible nominees include custodians, secretaries, instructional assistants, substitutes, teachers, social workers, counselors, nurse, principal, and any other educational staff members who have made a difference. Students will take home the nomination forms to fill out and are asked to return them on Wednesday morning. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

As we bid farewell to the last day of March, it certainly made its entrance like a lion. We are excited to welcome April this week and look forward to some much-needed moisture. Although it may be a slower week, it is filled with opportunities for learning and fresh starts as we enter the beginning of the fourth quarter. Students should aim to be at 33% of their AR goals this week. The AR/Reading Committee has planned numerous activities for students who meet their AR targets. Please ensure your students are reading for 20 minutes each night, as research indicates this fosters strong brain development and opens up a world of exploration. We have a Child Find event this Friday, April 4th, from 9 AM to 11 AM. For more information, you may contact Ms. Robb at 575-734-5420. Next week, we will host the Scholastic Book Fair, where the annual "Buy One, Get One" offer will be available. Additionally, the last Wacky Wednesday is on April 9th, so please submit permission forms by Tuesday, April 8th. Have a fantastic week!

Fast Feet Friday:
8:30 am - 9:00 am: Kindergarten and First Grade
9:00 am - 9:30 am: Second and Third Grade
9:30 am - 10:00 am: Fourth and Fifth Grade
Lunch Schedule:
11:00 am - 11:30 am: Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade
11:30 am - 12:00 pm: Third Grade, Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade
All students who achieved the Quarter 3 AR goal will attend the AR Party today from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm and will not participate in Fast Feet Friday or the lunch period at the school. They will enjoy the day at the lake and have lunch there.

Welcome Back from Spring Break
Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you are well-rested and ready to finish the year strong. Due to recent inclement weather delays, students have been given a small extension to submit their Quarter 3 work. You have Monday and Tuesday to turn in any outstanding assignments, and Quarter 3 report cards will be sent home on Friday, March 28. For our younger students in kindergarten, first, and second grades, the monthly Istation ISIP assessment will take place this week. It’s important that students get good sleep and rest to perform their best on these assessments. Additionally, students who met their AR goal for Quarter 3 will enjoy a celebratory trip to Lake Van this Friday. Our Fast Feet Friday morning schedule will continue as usual for the rest of the school year, taking advantage of the nice weather for morning walks. We have also provided incentives for students who demonstrate good behavior and academic performance every other Friday. It has been rewarding to celebrate our students’ achievements in character. For those who need it, we offer school improvement sessions every other Friday from 2 PM to 2:30 PM, where students work on better behavior techniques, complete missing assignments, or redo assignments for a better grade. The next session is on April 4. Thank you for your continued support, and have a great week ahead!

¡Bienvenidos de regreso de las vacaciones de primavera! Esperamos que estén bien descansados y listos para terminar el año con fuerza. Debido a los recientes retrasos por el mal tiempo, se ha dado a los estudiantes una pequeña extensión para entregar el trabajo del trimestre 3. Tienen el lunes y martes para entregar cualquier tarea pendiente, y las boletas de calificaciones del trimestre 3 se enviarán a casa el viernes 28 de marzo. Para nuestros estudiantes más jóvenes de kínder, primero y segundo grado, la evaluación mensual de Istation ISIP se llevará a cabo esta semana. Es importante que los estudiantes duerman bien y descansen para rendir al máximo en estas evaluaciones. The students loved it! Please remember there is a school board meeting on Monday at 6 PM. Wacky Wednesday is this Wednesday, so ensure permission forms are submitted by Tuesday. Friday, March 7, 2025, marks the last day of Quarter 3, and report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Next week is spring break, and we hope you enjoy your time and stay safe.

Good Afternoon Families
With careful consideration for the forecasted weather tomorrow, school will transition to remote learning. Teachers will send out information regarding the learning tasks for the day. In addition to the assignments from the teachers, here are a few more learning tasks:
Read for 20 minutes.
Tomorrow is scheduled to be a Dr. Seuss day, to wear animal print or dress like an animal. Students can draw a picture of their favorite animal and write a paragraph about it.
Create 15 of your own equations for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division to share with a partner when returning to school.
Make your own word search using spelling words you know for your friends to try.
Create your own sight word flashcards to practice and teach your siblings and/or friends.
Engage in some physical activities such as sit-ups, jumping jacks, yoga, or stretches. The opportunities are endless.
Staff will be available from 8 AM to 3 PM. Please stay safe.
