The Coats Pump and Supply building has been standing since 1972. Sam Coats, Philip Coats dad, started Coats Pump and Supply in 1955 with his brother Benny Coats. It used to be in the Daubert Oil and Gas building. They decided to put this business in Dexter because there is a lot of farm land. This business provides water pump for the farmers. If we did not have Coats Pump and Supply then the farmers would have to use irrigation, and irrigation takes longer and takes more manual labor.
