Dexter Consolidated Schools
Title 1
Supplemental Educational Services

What is SES (Supplemental Educational Services)?

SES is additional academic instruction designed to increase the academic achievement of students in schools in need of improvement.

Who is eligible?

Eligible students are all students from low-income families who attend Title 1 schools that are in their second year of school improvement, in corrective action, or in restructing -Dexter Elemetary, Dexter Middle and Dexter High Schools.

Eligibility is not dependent on whether the student is a member of a subgroup that caused the school to not make AYP or whether the student is in a grade that takes the statewide assessment.

This year Dexter Consolidated Schools received funding for 46 students to receive SES Tutoring.

How do I get my student signed up?

In October letters and application forms will be sent to eligible students in all three schools. If more than 46 students are interested in the tutoring services, the students will be prioritized using the following criteria
  1. Letters will be sent to all students explaining the tutoring process.
  2. Application Forms are to be returned to the schools and then sent to K12 Programs Office.
  3. K12 Programs Office will use Free/Reduced lunch status as first selection criteria.
  4. If SBA scores are available, students testing in the Nearing Proficiency or Beginning Steps range will be chosen.
  5. If MAP scores are available, students testing in the Nearing Proficiency or Beginning Steps range will be chosen.
  6. Parents of the students chosen for SES Tutoring will be contacted by the K12 Programs Office.
