  • We’re very proud of our new scoreboard and activity bus! 
    We know everyone in our district has worked to ensure that all funds possible go directly to the classroom. We want to make certain everyone understands that funds used for these items cannot be used for teachers’ salaries. The scoreboard was purchased with gate receipt money.  We don’t bring in a lot of money through gate receipts, but we let it accumulate so that we’re able to make important purchases.  Activity vehicles, athletic uniforms and the marquee at the elementary school are a few of the purchases where Gate Receipts have been used.  D-2, our new activity bus, was purchased with 2-Mil (or SB9) state funds that are designated for capital expenditures.  Operational funds are used for salaries, supplies, utilities, student travel, etc.—no operational funds were used in purchasing our scoreboard and bus.

The Common Core is a different approach to teaching, learning and testing that focuses on giving students a deep understanding of the most important concepts in the subjects they are studying so that they can apply that knowledge, understanding and skills to other subjects and in the real world. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are not 'new names for old ways of doing business' they are the foundation of public education in the 21st century. The transition to the CCSS is both immediate - as it must be implemented in the next three years - and lasting - as it affects virtually every aspect of the public school curriculum, instruction and assessment.
