Title I

Supplemental Educational Services

Dexter Consolidated Schools

What is SES (Supplemental Educational Services)?

SES is additional academic instruction designed to increase the academic achievement of students in schools in need of improvement.

Who is eligible?

Eligible students are all students from low-income families who attend Title I schools that are in their second year of school improvement, in corrective action, or in restructuring —Dexter Elementary, Dexter Middle and Dexter High School.

Eligibility is not dependent on whether the student is a member of a subgroup that caused the school to not make AYP or whether the student is in a grade that takes the statewide assessment.

This year Dexter Consolidated Schools received funding for 41 students to receive SES Tutoring.

How do I get my student signed up?

In September letters and application forms were sent out to all three schools.  The students were prioritized using the following criteria

1. Letters were sent to all students explaining the tutoring process

2. Application Forms were returned to the schools and then sent to K12 Programs Office

3. K12 Program Office used Free/Reduced lunch status as first selection criteria

4. If SBA scores were available, students testing in the Nearing Proficiency or Beginning Steps range were chosen.

5. IF MAP scores were available, students testing in the Nearing Proficiency or Beginning Steps range were chosen.

6. Parents of the students chosen for SES Tutoring were contacted by the K12 Programs Office.
