Electronic Databases Available at the High School
These are the databases provided for the High school. Most sites should be accessible both at school and at home, using the passwords provided. If you have any trouble accessing these sites, or need help in navigating them, please let Janie or Amy know. If you have never tried using these sites, please try them out, they should provide support for your curriculum!
InfoTrac (Gale Group): This is a database providing full-text coverage of both magazines and newspapers. It organizes the search hits in an effective way. It also has a professional collection as well as a Spanish database.

Culturegrams: This site provides in-depth information about both countries and states. Printable maps are provided, as well as lots of the information teachers or students would want about both countries and states. Country information includes facts and figures, history, lifestyle, society, recipes and timeline. Students can hear the country’s national anthem and see pictures from many countries, as well as learn a few words in that country’s language. Students are also able to compare specific information from two countries side by side. Information about states includes a flag, map, history, resources, etc.

AP/AccuWeather: Contains over 2 million photographs taken by AP photographers – not just weather! These photos date from the 1800’s through the current day. The site also contains graphics, timelines, and audio clips.

Ebsco: This database has hundreds of magazines, newspapers, reference books, and biographies to help you as you do research for school projects and papers. It is very similar to InfoTrac. It is often helpful for students to compare both databases.
