Welcome to 8th Grade Language Arts!
This year, we will explore the world of reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and literature. Each class will follow the Common Core State Standards for Language Arts required by the NMPED. Students will learn the following: correct usage and placement of different types of nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, and phrases; different parts of literature including character, problem, event, solution, theme, plot, and climax; literature genres; compare and contrast; sentence structure, paragraph structure, and effective writing. We will work in our textbook some, but, don't worry...we will read other literature and create projects, as well. We will go to the Dexter Middle School Library every other Tuesday, so please remember your books!
